Mining & Processing
ENGLO has a long history of working in the mining industry. As a company that started its roots in the mines, we have extended our expertise and grown knowledge through experience of completed projects. The mining industry covers a vast range of activities, from extracting raw materials at sites such as quarries, surface mines, and open-pit operations to transforming these materials into refined resources through advanced processing infrastructure.
Key Mined Materials
Mined resources span a wide variety of materials:
- Aggregates: Sand, gravel, stone
- Fuels: Coal
- Metals: Iron, copper, gold, aluminum, zinc, lithium, nickel, silver, platinum, and others
- Nonmetals: Phosphate, gypsum, talc, gemstones, pumice, and feldspar
- Rare-Earth Elements: Neodymium, dysprosium, yttrium, europium, and terbium
In North America, the majority of mining operations focus on sand, gravel, and stone, followed by coal. For metals, copper and iron mines are the most prevalent.
Dust, particularly heavy and abrasive types, is a common byproduct in mining operations. It is generated at various stages, including:
- Extraction: At sites like surface mines and quarries
- Material Handling: Through conveyor belts, transfer points, and weigh feeders
- Storage: From bins and silos holding ore
- Processing Equipment: Crushers, grinders, and mills (e.g., hammer mills, ball mills)
- Separation and Mixing: During screening and blending processes
This pervasive dust creates challenges that require effective control measures to protect equipment and workers while ensuring regulatory compliance.
