Power Generation
Crusher Building
Material handling and particle size reduction systems generate airborne fugitive dust that inadvertently affects the ambient air conditions within a crusher station. Frequently, the fugitive dust is generated not only during the transfer of material, but also by the displaced air caused by the operation of the crusher itself. Water sprays provide some temporary relief of fugitive dust emissions but may be detrimental to the condition of the final product. Wetted dust particles wreak havoc on dry collectors, clogging bag filters and preventing them from pulse jetting clean. This causes a reduction of air volume at the collection hoods and reduces the air velocity in the ductwork to potentially unsafe levels. Powder River Basin coal users have a potential explosive risk due to the spontaneous combustible nature of wet PRB coal dust in dry bag filters. Wetted dust particles are not a problem to the ENGLO® Extractor. Its “Easy Clean” extraction panel permits consistent air volumes throughout the duct system, and its high extraction efficiency enable the ENGLO® Extractor to meet stringent EPA requirements for exhaust ventilation. The ENGLO® Extractor system has become a safe and effective alternative for managing fugitive dust in Crusher Building Applications, Tripper Rooms, Reclaim Tunnels, and Transfer Stations.
MCC Room Pressurization Application
Many plants were experiencing huge amounts of dust into their MCC rooms due to the close proximity of their coal handling operations. Applying negative pressure in this type of situation would have produced an undesirable result in that it would bring additional dust into the room through the doorway and window openings. Pressurizing the MCC room with "Clean Air" is a much better approach. Experience at the plant using a dry filter system because it required frequent maintenance to keep the filter element clean, the dirty filter caused a rapid loss of air volume. The ENGLO Technology was appealing since it required little maintenance and uses a “Self/Cleaning” extraction panel to remove the dust particles from the ambient air. The ENGLO system high collection efficiency permits direct pressurization from the ENGLO exhaust. A huge success and with minimal maintenance.
Coal Reclaim Tunnel Ventilation
Coal reclaim tunnels may present hazardous conditions due to excessive levels of fugitive coal dust and methane gas that escape from the coal conveyors during the handling process. Ventilation fans may sometimes be used to ventilate these tunnel areas but will not remove the airborne dust particles before they enter the atmosphere. Dry collectors become inadequate as the dust particles may be wetted, clogging the bag filters, and preventing them from pulse jetting clean. This in turn reduces the air volume within the tunnel and adversely affects the ventilation process. Powder River Basin coal users have a potential explosive risk due to the spontaneous combustion effect of wet PRB coal dust in bag-house collectors. The ENGLO Dust Extractor System eliminates this risk and provides a solution to the other problems that have plagued coal handlers for many years. Wetted dust particles do not hinder the effectiveness of the ENGLO Extractor. Its “Easy Clean” extraction panel allows it to maintain consistent air volumes within the tunnel, and its high extraction efficiency enables the ENGLO Extractor to meet stringent EPA requirements for exhaust ventilation. The ENGLO Extractor provides a much safer and attractive alternative to conventional tunnel ventilation practices.
